Theophilus Parsons (1797–1882) fue un reconocido profesor de Derecho en Harvard, desde 1848 hasta 1870. Hijo también de un famoso jurista, del mismo nombre. Al autor se lo recuerda por haber escrito varios tratados y libros jurídicos de gran utilidad, entre otros libros como la biografía de su padre y las cartas escritas por su hija enfermera y administradora de Hospital en tiempos de guerra.
